The Dyslexia Center of Utah, in a very real way, saved our son’s life.

We were very pleased to learn that the Dyslexia Center of Utah was an option for our son. After much worry, sleepless nights and desperate moments of reading from books I checked out at the library I found a reading system I felt would help our son learn to read proficiently. Sadly, when I asked […]

…our daughter loves to read!

We have loved our experience with DCU! We started the summer our daughter turned 5. She was physically tense when we’d bring up anything to do with reading and would have stomach aches and refuse to learn to read at school. Our other children loved learning to read – so we thought something might be wrong. […]

Thankful for the Dyslexia Center of Utah

We moved here when Zach was in 2nd grade from Virginia. We knew Zach had a reading problem but didn’t know exactly why or what back then. By the end of 2nd grade at our IEP meeting the discussion was that Zach had not improved over that year. This was so discouraging to us. Then […]

…proud of Asha’s progress in the last year.

Natalie, I just wanted to let you know what a joy it has been working with you and Boyd. Asha is one of the most phenomenal kids I have ever worked with in my 19 years in education. She has such a magnetic personality and made every single day a joy. I am so beyond proud […]

The Progress has been Remarkable

My daughter is 8 years old and has attended DCU for almost 5 months now. The progress she has made with her tutor, Lorita Beers, has been remarkable. Not only does Lorita have an amazing back ground in teaching reading skills, she knows her students and can cater to their needs. The program DCU uses […]

It Gives Me Peace That There Is Help Out There For My Son

I can’t say enough about Shelley.   We started Jared the end of Kindergarten with Shelley.  He is now in 2nd grade.  I had been working with Jared a half hour every day during Kindergarten.  At the end of the year he still had a hard time getting the letters in his name in the […]

Our Daughter’s Self-Confidence Is Now Off The Charts

I understand that as a parent we all want the very best for our children. I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Shelley. She is a wonderful person, aside from her extensive knowledge of dyslexia. My daughter had been in an extra reading program since kindergarten. At parent teacher conference at the beginning […]

You’ve Been A Gift To Our Family

Hi Shelley, I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how well Ian is doing in school. After a year and a half of tutoring, Ian was finally ready for the 1st grade. He entered Oak Hollow in the French Immersion program. He began the year at reading level A and when […]

The Best Part Of My Day

Hi Shelley, I just asked Nathan what the best part of his day was: “It’s being with Ms. Shelley” (after only 2 times of tutoring) I thought that would make your day and make you cry. Every child needs to know that they can succeed. Thanks. Kristin

Our Daughter’s Reading has Improved Drastically

Our daughter’s reading has improved drastically since starting regular weekly sessions at the DCU, two years ago. Shelley is amazing! We now have a 5th grader with all A’s at school and almost reading on grade level. Not to mention her comprehension which is now above grade level. Thank you DCU! Sharon P.

It Has Made A Night And Day Difference

Shelley is an amazing source of love, learning, and care.  Our two sons have made incredible strides in reading, social skills, comprehension, fluency, and more since they have been with her!  We feel it is a night and day difference, and she has made all the difference!!  It is evident that she cares for each […]

Shelly Is Excellent

Amazing results is what we have seen with our child since he has begun tutoring with Shelley Hatch.  We knew there was an issue with our son as he struggled to read and really began to doubt himself.  We could see how discouraged he was.  We were concerned.  Shelley helped us to understand his dyslexia.  […]

Creating Their Own Personal Success

My daughter is Dyslexic and as a parent I can relate to the determination it takes to figure out new ways to do so many things. There is a special place in my heart for kids who push through their challenges and create their own personal success. Boyd Wold

Thank You For Raising Awareness About Dyslexia

The Dyslexia Center of Utah has shared the simulation activities with prospective teachers to help them gain a better understanding of dyslexia. The teachers actually experience what students with a learning disability might go through in their classes at school. This activity opens their eyes to things that teachers can do to help students and […]

Shelley Hatch Made All the Difference

To whom it may concern, I am writing this letter in regards to my daughter Shelby. My daughter Shelby is a student at Pleasant Grove Jr. High school in the Alpine school district. When Shelby was in the first grade she struggled with reading, by the time she was in the third grade she was […]

Elijah is a Reader Because of What He Learned From You

Shelley: I was listening to some 8-9 year olds read the other day and I was surprised at how many couldn’t. I guess I shouldn’t be. My grandson Elijah was, before we found you, one of them. When we found you, Elijah had been held back a year and was years below his chronological age […]

GPA of 3.7

To Whom It May Concern: Shelley Hatch instructed my son Kenneth in reading. If it was not for her skills and expertise, I shudder to think of what would have happened to my son. This letter is a summary of his story of dyslexia. In 1st grade, I raised the concern that Kenneth might be […]

Michael just finished his 9th grade year with a 3.85

To Whom It May Concern, My name is Sariah Kelly and I live in Lehi.  My son Michael attended Eaglecrest Elementary School and every year starting at kindergarten, he barely squeaked by at the end of the year tests to qualify to go on to the next grade.  In 3rd grade we began testing to […]
